Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance Revitalises Partnership

Excellent news, Renault enthusiasts! The Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance has announced new initiatives that are set to revolutionise the automotive industry in months and years to come. The latest iteration of the program is designed to strengthen their partnership and enhance strategic agility by maximising value creation for all stakeholders.

This three-dimensional program focuses on high-value-creation operational projects in Latin America, India, and Europe, enhanced strategic agility with new initiatives that partners can join, and a rebalanced Renault Group-Nissan cross-shareholding and reinforced Alliance governance.

The binding framework agreement, expected to be finalised by the end of Q1 2023, is subject to regulatory approvals, and the program is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2023. The far-reaching program is set to create new growth opportunities and operating efficiencies for each Alliance company to innovate and transform the automotive products and mobility services market.

The Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance has been in existence for over 24 years, and this reinvigorated program is set to pave the way for the renewal and strengthening of the partnership, creating a new agile spirit and harnessing the pioneering technologies of all three Alliance members. The partnership will help secure operating efficiencies for each Alliance company, as well as exciting opportunities for Renault drivers and prospective buyers in South Africa.

One of the key benefits for existing Renault drivers and prospective buyers will be the launch of new SUVs, accessible A-segment electric vehicles, common 800-volt architecture, and a range of other exciting initiatives, including the joint deployment of charging infrastructure in Europe at Renault and Nissan dealerships. This is made possible through leveraging the strong presence of Mobilize Financial Services in Europe.

Renault and Nissan’s shared strategies on used cars, after-sales, and sales financing will support and increase dealer profitability and reduce respective costs, while Renault’s first Software-Defined Vehicle, FlexEVan, will be launched in the LCV market in Europe.

The Alliance companies have also agreed to explore their existing strategies in electrification and low-emission technologies by investing and collaborating in respective member-company projects that could provide incremental value to each individual business. Nissan is set to invest up to 15% in Ampere, Renault Group’s EV & Software entity in Europe.

The Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance’s new initiatives demonstrate their commitment to revolutionising the automotive industry and offering innovative products and services to their customers. The program will not only benefit the Alliance companies but also create exciting opportunities for Renault drivers across the board. As the automotive industry continues to evolve, the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance is well-positioned to be at the forefront of this transformation.
