Renault Teases A New Compact SUV Named Symbioz

Anticipating The Debut Of The Renault Concept – Symbioz

Symbioz. Yes, that’s what Renault’s latest hybrid crossover will be called.

Renault has revealed the name of its new C-segment compact family SUV ahead of its launch in Spring 2024. Symbioz, not to be confused with the 2017 grand-touring Symbioz concept car, is based on the group’s CMF-B hardware and will be offered with a hybrid powertrain.

The name given to Renault’s new compact car was not plucked out of thin air; rather, it was a thoughtful and deliberate decision. Renault says the name was inspired by the French word “symbiose”, derived from the ancient Greek “symbiosis”, meaning “living together”. The name perfectly illustrates the close bond between a family and their car, where passengers are one with it and the environment.

Sylvia Dos Santos, the Head of Naming Strategy at Renault, stated, “In choosing a name for our upcoming compact family car, we aimed for one that holds human significance, reflecting the intimate connection between a family and their vehicle.”

Compact Size Integrating Renault’s Latest Styling Language

With an overall length of 4.41 metres, the crossover is positioned to plug the gap between Renault’s small and mid-size SUV offerings. The French crossover seemingly features a design similar to the electric Renault models like the Scenic E-Tech, including sharp vertical LED strakes, slim headlights, and an angular front-end design.

The new SUV combines practicality with the best technology has to offer. A notable spec to this is the new-generation coverless Solarbay opacifying panoramic sunroof with a spacious interior and generous loading capacity. Under the hood is a 108kW hybrid powertrain, pairing a 1.6-litre normally aspirated petrol engine with an electric motor.

It’s also confirmed that it’ll have a weight figure under 1,500 kg. No boot size or cabin dimensions figures have been disclosed as yet.

Symbioz is set to become a part of Renault’s current lineup of hybrid C-segment vehicles, complementing the newly introduced Austral E-Tech full hybrid and the Arkana E-Tech full hybrid. Whether we see it in 2024 remains to be seen.

Stay tuned to Group1 Renault for the latest updates on planned upgrades for the existing Renault lineup and potential additions to the SA range.
