The Renault name is already synonymous with motor racing and locally South African’s can get their adrenaline fixes by driving the RS range of vehicles made up of the Clio RS and Megane RS. Internationally however there is an additional sports model, one which offers automobile fans something a little different… Say hello to the 108kW Sandero Renault Sport!
Aimed primarily at the South American market, the Sandero RS is a scorching hot hatch that is built in Renault’s Brazilian Curitiba factory. Unfortunately due to the weak Rand the Sandero RS will not be sold here in South Africa, which is a shame as we at Group1 are sure that it would have been rather popular with our customers. It’s got the Renault power
This all new Renault Sport Sandero is a front wheel drive vehicle that is powered by a normally-aspirated 2.0 litre petrol engine. This work of engineering genius is capable of putting out 108kW and is controlled by a six-speed manual gearbox. It is reportedly extremely fast, with the vehicle reaching 100km/h in 8.0 sec and enjoying a top speed of 202km/h.
What is different in the design?
This version of the Sandero has a more assertive look that the standard Sandero variant that is available in SA. This is courtesy of a number of cosmetic improvements that include:
- 17″ alloys
- A dual exhaust
- A diffuser and spoiler
- And the signature Renault Sport front
Inside the Sandero RS comes standard with:
- Red panels
- Contrast stitching
- Aluminium-look pedals
- Renault Media NAV touch screen
- Sat-nav
- Bluetooth connectivity
