Renault South Africa announced its partnership with Netball South Africa (NSA) as the team’s ‘Official Vehicle Partner’, just before the the 2023 Netball World Cup tournament in August, to the team’s delight.
The French automotive manufacturer struck up a deal set to run for the next three years, with NSA receiving four cars from Renault!
A Shared Vision For Female Sport
Driving the partnership is Renault South Africa’s belief in the power of women’s sports and the importance of supporting female athletes. Renault South Africa and NSA share the same vision of empowering women and growing netball in the country. And netball is one of the most popular and fastest-growing sports in South Africa!
“This partnership gives us an opportunity to become involved in one of the largest growing sports from grassroots through to our national athletes, aligning perfectly with our sports marketing vision to become a leading brand for change in women’s sports in South Africa”, said Renault South Africa CEO Shumani Tshifularo.
Great Timing With The World Cup
The partnership could not have come at a better time with the 2023 Netball World Cup tournament held from 28 July to 6 August at the International Convention Centre in Cape Town. Sixteen nations contested for the title at the event held in Africa for the first time on the tournament’s 60th anniversary.
“It made a massive improvement in the Netball World Cup and leading up to it and now after, it’s just continuing to grow,” said SPAR Proteas player Izette Griesel.
“The sponsorship makes us seen more out there and makes it possible for us to live our dreams. We play with our passion and the more people see that, the more they support that and the better it is for us as a team to improve.”
NSA’s outgoing CEO, Blanche de la Guerre added: “When a company shows confidence in a sport, specifically a women’s sport, it draws attention and it makes other companies also look at the opportunities that we can offer them to be partners. The more investors we get, the more we can invest back into the communities.”
