Renault drives away with two awards at the International Automobile Festival with its concept cars. The Renault 5 Prototype was named “Concept Car of the Year” in the competition organised by Car Design Review magazine. However, all the focus is on the Renault MORPHOZ winning the “Créativ’Experience” award for creativity.

International Automobile Festival Grands Prix Awards

The International Automobile Festival Grands Prix awards had an expert team of judges from various sectors including motorsports, architecture, fashion, design, culture and members of the media. They evaluated and awarded the best and impressive automobile projects of the year and voted for the Renault MORPHOZ.

The Festival Automobile International Grand Prizes honours the most impressive automotive and artistic projects from the previous year. And coming up against some stiff competition, Renault is proud to be rewarded for its creativity saying it’s a true reflection and acknowledgement of the hard work they’ve put in. All the teams involved have worked tirelessly on this ambitious project that shines the light on what we might expect of cars in the future.

Renault’s Design Director Laurens van den Acker received the award on Wednesday, 29th of September 2021 and said, “At Renault, we are proud to be rewarded for our creativity. I am receiving this award on behalf of the teams working for this project that reflects the future of the automobile world.”

What Is The Renault MORPHOZ?

The Renault MORPHOZ is a futuristic vehicle unlike any other that represents the automaker’s vision of the individual, shared electric mobility beyond 2025. It employs the Alliance-built CMF-EV modular electric platform that allows for several configurations ranging from power and capacity to range, space, and luggage compartment volume.

This electric SUV is one of many concept cars currently being developed but few seem to have the same sleek design and shapeshifting concept. According to the automaker, Renault MORPHOZ is designed as a city car and a long-range tourer.

Gilles Normand, Renault’s senior vice-president of electric vehicles, said that elements of the design will be used in the forthcoming production crossover and future models will be built on the platform as well.

It’s no surprise that the Renault MORPHOZ won the award as it looks incredible with the slim light signature that extends across the car’s grille featuring a preview of future Renault design trends. In addition to the car extending, elements of the SUV coupé styling also change between the City and Travel modes.

For instance, the front wings grow in Travel mode and are based on side grilles from Renaults in the 1910s which could be a prelude to future production models. The front air intakes also narrow when in Travel mode for greater efficiency. The ‘streamlined’ design of the underfloor batteries enables the car to be lower to the ground.

The Renault MORPHOZ is designed to adopt different motor and battery set-ups and the smart design concept means greater interior space without losing out on styling or features. We probably shouldn’t take it at face value but it certainly seems that Renault is heading in this direction.

Some of the features like the configuration and roominess will be of major value for cars based on this adaptable CMF-EV platform. For now, the Renault MORPHOZ is just a concept but we are excited to see what happens next.
