Groupe Renault shows 15.9% growth

Groupe Renault recently reported a revenue increase of 15.9% in the third quarter of 2017. This came to €12,218 million. When viewed outside of the scope of the AVTOVAZ consolidation and the impact it had on the group, this number still comes to a respectable €11,584 million, which points to a 9.8% increase (12.2% if you take constant exchange rates into account). All in all, a very good quarter.

But that’s not all. In the wake of this exciting news, it was also revealed that European group registrations rose 4.9%, which accounted for 397,097 new vehicles registered in a market that only grew by 1.4%. This brings Renault’s market European market share to 9.9% – an increase of 0.3 points. Overall, the brand’s growth for the quarter sits at 2.9%, thanks in large part to the newly launched Koleas. Additionally, the Clio remains a firm favourite as Europe’s runner-up for best-selling car, and the Captur takes top honours in the crossover segment.

Renault is also forging the way ahead in terms of electric vehicles. The immensely popular ZOE Z.E.40 e-car has been the talk of the global town, with 6,665 sales in the third quarter along, constituting a 67% increase. There was also a marked 10.3% increase in sales on the Dacia, which has in part been influenced by the 12% upswing in sales on the Sandero.

And that’s just in Europe. Renault also reported bumper sales in other markets. This includes:

  • Eurasia: 24.3% increase in a market that grew by 15.5%.
  • Russia: 22.9% increase, bringing market share to 28.2% (1.2 point rise).
