The Limited Edition Edition Clio R.S.18 F1

Unless you’ve been out of the country, or staying away from the mainstream South African motoring press for the past few months, you’ve probably already heard of the recent launch of the limited edition Clio RS 18 F1. Built to commemorate Renault’s 40 year of Formula 1, this amazing piece of automotive artistry is based on the Clio RS 220 EDC Trophy, but offers prospective drivers so much more that you could ever imagine.

With only 65 units available in South Africa to purchase, the new RS 18 F1 edition Clio is more than just a limited edition, it is a rare collector’s piece that will blow your mind and have you begging for more. Powered by a 1.6-litre turbo engine (which delivers 162kW and 280Nm) this is a sports car in every sense of the word. Additionally, this powerful F1 inspired engine is mated to a six-speed EDC dual-clutch which we know will change the way you drive forever.

But enough of the small talk, let’s take a look at this beauty that is also pure beast:

So What Does It Drive Like?

Let’s just say that this Clio RS 18 F1 has taken the concept of VaVaVoom and injected it with a whole lot of adrenaline, and added a dash of Oh Wow! It is an absolute thrill to drive and has been rated (by more than one motoring journalist) as the “most exciting Clio RS I have EVER driven”. It even sounds the part of a sports car thanks in part to its powerful engine, but also because of its Akrapovic exhaust system which adds a little rambunctiousness to every driving event. And getting behind the wheel of the RS 18 F1 IS an event! This Clio has an addictive drive style, it is fun and exciting to control, and it looks just beautiful in its trademark colours as one would expect a high performance car to look. In our opinion it is worth every cent you’re going to spend on purchasing this rare gem of a hot hatch, and we’re sure that it is going to not only give you many years of driving pleasure for years to come, but will also make you the envy of drivers on every South African road.
