Renault is gearing up to launch its highly anticipated new Captur crossover across Europe in the coming months. The redesigned Captur will build upon the success of the previous generation with a fresh new look and improved capabilities, making it quite the competitor in its class. Here’s what we know so far.
A More Rugged Design
The 2024 Renault Grand Captur takes on a chunkier SUV-inspired appearance thanks to its bold fenders, square lines, and larger dimensions.
The evolution of the Captur which is compared to the Clio, will be evident in its dramatic, sharp-edged front end and aggressive bumper that showcases Renault’s corporate identity. The rear however still maintains a more angular window line and distinctive LED taillights.
There are rumours about the introduction of a sportier Esprit Alpine trim to the Captur range. This variant would likely feature larger alloy wheels, a more dynamic interior and abundant Alpine branding.
Interior Updates
Step inside the new Grand Captur and you will experience some significant upgrades. First, the quality of materials is noticeable, with more soft-touch surfaces and upscale trim options.
You’ll find Renault’s latest infotainment system with a large touchscreen display and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. Higher trim levels get a fully digital gauge cluster.
More Space And Capability
With its stretched wheelbase, the new Captur provides more space with rear legroom and headroom notably improved. Under the tailgate, you’ll find a larger cargo area with an adjustable height floor to optimise space.
Renault has also enhanced the Captur’s off-road credentials by increasing ground clearance and approach/departure angles.
Performance Enhancements
As far as engines go, the new Grand Captur is expected to use the same as future smaller Capturs:
- 1.3 Turbo Mild-Hybrid 140 HP
- 1.6 Turbo Hybrid 143 HP
- 1.6 160 HP Plug-in Hybrid
Advanced Safety Tech
To keep occupants well-protected, the 2024 Captur comes standard with automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist and rear automatic braking. Available tech like adaptive cruise control and a 360-degree camera provide extra reassurance.
The new Renault Captur is shaping up to be a compelling package for those seeking a stylish, well-equipped crossover with a dose of real-world capability. It will face stiff competition from established rivals but seems ready to capture its share of buyers.
The 2024 Captur begins arriving at Renault dealerships across Europe later this year.
