The Renault Kadjar – South African Guild of Motoring Journalists Car of the Year Finalist
The Renault Kadjar, part SUV/part hatchback with the capabilities of a sporty ride, has made it to the finals of the 2017 SA Car of the Year. The Kadjar, along with nine other cars, has been shortlisted for this prestigious title, which will be awarded in March 2017.

Selected by the South African Guild of Motoring Journalists in September 2016, the finalists were chosen by a panel of 28 car aficionados out of a list of 35 possible contenders. Any car released between August 2015 and August 2016 was suitable for nomination, so the competition was pretty stiff. Each member of the 28 man jury put forward ten nominations and from there it was whittled down to the ten finalists.
“The competition now moves into high gear as preparations are made for two days of stringent evaluations at the beginning of February 2017. At these evaluation days – the most critical of which will be the scheduled procedures at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit – the Jury will assess all the cars independently, with routes and modules designed to test the vehicles in a similar way in which the average consumer would use them.The Jury will also have access to performance test data, comparative pricing and specification data, as well as comparative parts pricing data,” explains SA Guild of Motoring Journalists chairman, Bernard Hellberg Jr.
